ART - CULTURE – EXHIBITION - DRINK – MELBOURNE

New Formalities

OPENING Wednesday 9 November 5-7pm

A Contemporary Exhibition from the students of RMIT Honours Fine Art Photography.

Tyler Payne and Vanessa Howells are two emerging artists who are showcasing their artwork from their completed academic year. Collectively they generate conversation, by redefining topics such as gender, the female in art and the gaze through the use of performance in photography and video. The honours graduates question gender identity in mass media, challenge the conventional perceptions of transgender, and reconsider the image of female empowerment.

Amelia Lackmann

Amelia’s work investigates abstraction through variances in line, shape and colour. Her paintings borrow from architecture to form designed visual translations of dimensions of space. The smooth, precisely developed surface quality of her works echo the planning, design and construction of the world around us and can be read as a metaphor for a re-invented sense of place.
