OK, Fashion Rebel has got your covered. Only 25 days to get your Holiday Shopping done and dusted!

There are many thoughtful triggers that ignite the senses and evoke nostalgic memories between you and your loved ones…

My affinity with Popular Culture began at the age of 5 when my parents felt I was ready to watch “Wayne’s World”. The one-syllable catch phrases, crazy hair and fashions sparked an endless search for to emulate the style of the 80’s – early 90’s.

STRIPES, Uncle Buck, Nintendo, The Sandlot Kids, Bill & Ted’s, Sega, Fresh Prince …. I always tried to aspire for that next-cool-trend and NOTHING goes past those funky, flexible bracelets, secured by a slapping motion.

Now, 2011 welcomes the “pimped-out” iconic SLAP Watch. Splash proof, affordable, personal and in tonnes of varieties… This holiday season, it’s time to give the gift of COOL.

Exclusively online www.slapwatches.com.au prices start at $34.95

The Young Republic – Launch Party

26 Aug 2011 , 17:02 | Posted In Blog Post | 1 Comment

An incredible opportunity came my way on July 12th 2011. Young Republic, Australia’s first interactive marketplace for emerging designers asked if I would collaborate on their exclusive launch.

Young Republic Launch from Dais Productions on Vimeo.

Much like my first solo-event, the budget was tiny, the schedule was tight and the response from the public was overwhelming! Luckily, I was guided through a flawless night thanks to Sharon Garrard and Chic Petite.

Over the course of 6 weeks, we executed an incredible launch at the gorgeous Aurora Bar Sydney. Encapsulating the creativity, spirit and community of Australian fashion and eco-design the HOURS of research, planning, guest lists, invitations, RSVPs, sponsorships, media, venue, campaigning, scouting, rehearsals, installations, styling, photo shoots, promotions, marketing, press releases, send out and giftbags were worth it.

THIS WAS ME AT THE END OF THE NIGHT!

In a bid to illustrate the connection from craft- to -career for an emerging designer, the idea for a market AND a fashion installation came to mind.

Bad, meet Evil… – Launch Party

18 Apr 2011 , 13:28 | Posted In Blog Post | 5 Comments

It was my first ever solo-event launch and I was representing the ‘Bad, meet Evil..’ brand.

With a small budget and limited time frame, it was a project that required intense effort and dedication.

The contemporary Treehouse venue was transformed into a chilled, soulful hangout for Melbourne’s fashion, hip-hop and design enthusiasts.

The crew from Crisp Entertainment…

Fjorde Magazine..

Jade & Irish from StyleZilla

Joseph Fonti & stylist/RAWW blogger Micah

The high calibre event exhibited Fonti’s debut-collection of graphic art and street-wear to a sea of stylish attendees.

Including.. The Real Pants Men - Besty & Mick

Alice from Warrior

Twins Adrian & Silvio

And heaps more..

An unexpected surprise, guests were treated to a rather satirical performance by Australia’s son of hip-hop, 360. Setting the scene for a fierce catwalk show, 360 had crowds in hysterics with his brazen hosting skills.

Enlisting the old-school talent of scratch-DJ Paolo, models worked the runway, confidently dancing to the sounds of Missy Elliot and Pharoahe Monch.

Local sponsors, The Real Pants Man and Warrior provided models with the latest in quality denim and footwear….

While guests nibbled on delicious Lolly-Kebabs provided by the Sweet & Nut Shop.

Thanks Wayne!

Far from bad or evil, the night was a true success, with many of Fonti’s original artworks being sold to collectors, fans and friends. Attendees pressed the tight-lipped designer for hints regarding the new-season range but, settled for a gift-bag courtesy of SPOOK magazine.

Thanks to my family and friends who were very supportive. Ttyl betches xox

The Burger Effect

14 Apr 2011 , 10:08 | Posted In Blog Post | 1 Comment

It’s taken over two decades, but as of 14 months ago…. I started to take a great interest in diet and living healthily.

I was sick of eating like this….

And feeling like this….

After a few too many pomegranate martinis last weekend, I decided the best cure would be a great BURGER….

Not THAT Burger! I was on the hunt for something real greasy to line the stomach…

BUT, being the foodie I am. I thought I could class the burger up a notch. I went to visit my old mate Neil at Rockpool and went straight for the bar…

David Blackmore’s Full Blood Wagyu Hamburger with Bacon, Gruyere Cheese and Zuni Pickle, mac and cheese and hand cut fat chips. Cathartic, lardo- heaven..

BUT THEN…. Our bodies went into a cheesy, carb-loaded, protein overload!

The pain…..

So WORTH it! Next time I’ll be sure not to mix 2 latte’s with a burger, cheesy pasta and fries!

Ttyl betches xoxo

Amid the incessant droning of commerce lecturers and the clinical fluorescent lighting of the university halls, a complex soul emerged from the masses. Societal and parental expectations were put aside and his creative conscience surfaced. Soon, he was staring out the studio window, wondering if he made the right decision in swapping the text books for Textas. Introducing Joseph Fonti, the illustrative graphic designer and director of clothing label, ‘Bad, meet Evil’.
