Nirvana for Melburnians? Well, the coffee would have to be excellent. The eggs, poached to perfection. The lunches are hearty and filling, full of rich, earthy flavours. And the pastries are light and flaky. Welcome to brunch heaven also known as Porgie + Mr. Jones.
Seating more than 70 diners in their multi-room cafe’ and restaurant, Porgie + Mr. Jones has become an institution for Hawthorn locals. Filled with happy customers divulging into their gourmet breakfasts, seasonal lunches and sweet desserts, P+MJ have been producing plates of flavoursome and rustic dishes since 2008.
The washed brick finish, chalk board walls and spacious surrounds create an uplifting and inviting atmosphere for all. Warm and cosy in winter and breezy and light in the courtyard during summer, there’s no going past Porgie + Mr. Jones for a relaxing afternoon.
*It’s time we all left our Fitzroy nooks. I assure you there are no cackling school girls, botoxed mothers or indie kids smoking rollies out the front!
