Cnr Johnston St & Campbell St.
Collingwood
$3 – $14
*Service: Super fast and fresh.
If you’re expecting poached eggs on sourdough, baked beans with chorizo or ricotta hotcakes with maple syrup, then you’ve come to the wrong place. There are no modern fittings, fancy espresso machines or loaves of bread selling for $9. This is a rare find in Melbourne. Affordable is an understatement, Café la Terra is a salute to unpretentious, flavourful foods on an old school budget.
This is freshness and vitality at its best. Clean Asian flavours infused into a simplistic, yet appealing menu. Freshly squeezed juice and rice paper rolls that will fill your belly with goodness. The all-vegetarian menu will make any meat eater reconsider the steak option.
It is ridiculously confused. Italian name, Viet cuisine and antique décor that make for an interesting fusion of cultures. If you can get past the rather eccentric surrounds then there’s no reason not to make a stop at Café la Terra. Generous serves, fresh veg, tofu and rice for all my friends! You won’t need more than $10 for a feast…
What to Get
Tofu Rice Paper Rolls
Fresh rice papers filled with grilled tofu, vegetables and served with a peanut sauce. Delicious.
Stir Fry Vegetables served with rice
This is an interesting one… It’s a beautiful combination of vegetables and tofu, strangely served in a napoletana sauce. It may sound odd, but it tastes really delicious.
Steamed Spring Rolls
For a mere $4, you can feast on a healthy alternative to deep-fried Asian takeaway and try something different. Filled with heaps of veg, this is a staple for locals.
Fresh Juices *WITH FUN STRAWS!
Ginger, orange and apple? Carrot, pineapple and orange? Whatever you like, it’s there and it comes with a fun straw.
